Ticket sales for Bolt London swansong

More than one million fans have applied for tickets to next year’s World Championships in London, which is expected to be a final hurrah for world’s fastest man Usain Bolt.
Bolt, who claimed a historic third straight triple gold medal haul at the Rio Olympics last month, has signaled his intention to retire after the London Games.
According to the event organisers a total of 1,047,000 tickets have been applied for by fans in 92 countries, with the stadium capacity roughly around 50,000 per session.  It means that for the first time the event is on course to be sold out for all 14 sessions, a historic first for the meet.
In fact six of the 14 sessions are already oversubscribed with the 100m final attracting more than 200,000 ticket applications so far.  A total of 700,000 places are available overall and so far 486,000 of the 700,000 available tickets have been sold, with successful applicants being informed from Friday.
Unsuccessful applicants in the first round of sales will be given the option first refusal on remaining tickets in mid-September.  10,000m and 5,000 Mo Farah will also be a major pulling card for the Championships.  Having successfully defended both title at the Rio Olympics in Brazil Farah has announced that he will turn his attention to the marathon following the World Championships.
