Omar McLeod Jamaica's hurdle champion runs sub-10 time over 100 metre


Jamaica’s 110-metre hurdles champion Omar McLeod, who turns 22 on Monday, ran a personal best 9.99s to win the 100 metres at the John McDonnell Invitational in Fayetteville, Arkansas on Saturday.
McLeod, who attends the University of Arkansas where he is a business major, broke away from the field at 75 metres to break the 10-second barrier for the first time.

The 2016 World Indoor 60-metre hurdles champion, was helped by the maximum allowable wind of 2.0mps.
Second was Markesh Woodson of Missouri, 10.13, while John Teeters of Oklahoma State was third in 10.16s. American Olympian Wallace Spearmon was fourth in 10.18.
McLeod’s time makes him the fifth fastest man in the world this year over the 100 metres and one of the fastest sprint hurdlers over the distance in history.
Akela Jones from Barbados was second in the 100-metre hurdles.
Jones, who attends Kansas State University, clocked 12.94s, finishing behind Payton Stambaugh from Arkansas, who won in 12.83s. Third went to Alex Gochenour (13.05) also from Arkansas.
Meanwhile, Jamaica’s Clive Pullen, who also attends Arkansas, was second in the triple jump with a mark of 15.64 metres. T
he event was won by John Warren of Missouri, who leaped to 15.79m. Rubin Owens of Arkansas was third with his best effort of 15.28m.
