Jamaican international Jobi McAnuff is likely to miss the rest of the season for English League One club Leyton Orient.
The midfielder hasn’t featured for the out since a match against York City earlier this month prompting speculation that the player was once again being kept out of the squad due to contractual issues.
Orient caretaker Andy Hessenthaler has, however, dismissed any such assertions. According to Hessenthaler the player suffered a tear in his calf earlier this month and with just two more matches remaining, the former Reading captain isn’t likely to get back to full fitness before May 7.
“I very much doubt Jobi will feature before the end of the campaign. He has a calf problem and I’d be amazed if he is fit,” said Hessenthaler.
“We do miss him, his quality and experience and certainly his creativity in the final third. On Saturday against AFC Wimbledon we just didn’t have enough quality in the final third.”
McAnuff has provided a spark for the team since returning to the squad in September. The player had suffered a frustrating at the start of season after a rumoured disagreement with the club’s top brass.
