ST ANN, Jamaica — The St Ann policeman who was shot dead while at party in White River, Ocho Rios, Sunday night was reportedly in an altercation with a licenced firearm holder, who has since turned himself in to the police.
The incident reportedly occurred at about 11:00 pm. Dead is police constable
Shane Francis who was assigned to the Divisional Intelligence Unit.
Reports are that Francis, 30 was leaving the party when he had an argument with the licenced firearm holder. It is alleged that Francis pulled his licensed firearm and approached the man who also pulled his licensed firearm and fired two shots hitting Francis to the left side of the chest and right hip.
Francis was rushed to the St Ann’s Bay Hospital by other police personnel who were present at the event. He was pronounced dead.
The two men reportedly had a prior dispute.
