At CARIFTA Jamaica sweeps sprint hurdles titles

Jamaica won all four gold medals in the sprint hurdles but dropped two medal opportunities in the process as Under-18 favourite Dejour Russell false started and Timor Barrett failed to complete his event in the Under-20 final.

Dasazay Freeman won the Under 18 title in 13.44 seconds in a close finish with Sasha Wells of the Bahamas, who clocked 13.48 seconds.
Joda Campbell made it two medals for Jamaica as she claimed the bronze in 13.78s.
Rushelle Burton of Jamaica won the gold in the Under-20 section winning in 13.36s.
She was way ahead of her teammate Sidney Marshall who clocked 13.73s. Jeminise Parris of Trinidad and Tobago ran 13.73 for third.
Damion Thomas won the Boys Under-18 title after countryman and favourite Dejour Russell false started.
Thomas ran 13.32 for the top spot, finishing ahead of Branson Rolle of the Bahamas, 13.80. Rasheem Brown of the Cayman Islands was third in 14.05.
Jamaica wasted another chance of a medal in the Under-20 category when Timor Barrett failed to finish the event. In his absence Rohan Cole won in 13.71. Tavonte Mott of the Bahamas was second in 13.81, while his teammate Shakeem Smith was third in 14.12s.
